Page 1 of 3 A day trip on North Carolina’s US 421 By “Lil Southern Steel" "Momma! Momma! That stinking alarm clock didn’t go off again!" and then BLEEEEEP BLEEEEEP BLEEEEEEEP as mine did. This is what I awoke to at 7:15 this morning, 5 minutes after Koty's bus had come and gone. Glad I was plannin' on gettin' up early anyway! So I threw in my contacts and threw on some sweats and pushed Koty out the door and into the van to drive the mile to school.
Back home for the morning caretaking of the Kitty Clan and my Buddy and the PC. While Norton and AVG were doing their stuff on the PC, I jumped in the shower to wake up enough to make the decision as to what to wear for the plan for today......Leather or no? I took a not so quick look at the weather forecast and completely gave up on sifting through this site with the virus scanning slowing my activity to a trickle and decided NO Leather..... the time for that is coming sooner than id like. I donned my faithful hoodie, packed my chaps just in case, fired up ol' SCARlett and headed to Crossroads HD where I was to meet Chessie at 10:30 for a day of riding. About half way there, I was wishin' I had opted for the leather as there was still a chill in the air.
I pulled in the lot at 10:30 on the dot and my phone began to chime just as I hit the kill switch and glided into a parking spot. I yanked my phone from my fanny pack to find it was Chessie...... apologizing for being late and giving me the low down on her plight. After crossing the state line and not far from Boone, she was pulled by a Sheriff’s officer who noticed her headlight was burnt. She evaded the ticket but was harangued by a 20 minute lecture on how things were in good ol’ NC. He was finished with her and she was on her way again and would see me soon. Guessing it would take her at least 45 minutes to arrive from her current location, I decided to go inside and look around a bit as I hadn't had a chance to visit the dealership as of yet. I was pleasantly greeted as I entered and began to peruse the racks of clothes and other HD paraphernalia. I had a nice conversation with one of the gals that works there as I did so. She told me to put in an application but after looking around a bit, I decided it wouldn’t be a good idea for me to work there, even if you do get a discount!
